Special Olympics Tennessee, Southwest Region Athlete and local Jacksonian Meghan Roeder has been selected to participate in the Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, FL, in June 2022.
Roeder, a long-time Southwest Region athlete, competed in the summer state games, which qualified her to be in the lottery and drawing for the Special Olympics USA Games.
“It is so rewarding to be a part of such an amazing community of people. I am honored to have an athlete not only from our region but from the city of Jackson to compete nationally at the USA games,” said City of Jackson Recreation and Parks Special Events Coordinator Whitney Billingsley. “Meghan has worked really hard over the years and she absolutely deserves this opportunity.”
Billingsly serves as the Director of the Special Olympics Tennessee – Area 11 Southwest Region. This region includes Chester, Decatur, Hardeman, Hardin, Henderson, Madison, and McNairy counties.
“Jackson, TN is full of talented individuals and Meghan is one of them,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “We are very excited that she will represent our city in the USA games in Florida next year and we wish her all the best.”
