On the heels of one of the most lucrative years for non-certified staff across the district, the Jackson-Madison County School System is aiming to strengthen its transportation workforce. Career opportunities are now available for bus drivers and special education attendants.

“This is a unique opportunity. The benefits we offered throughout the previous school year for employees, across all departments, were historic. There’s never been a better time to join,” said Deputy Superintendent Dr. Ricky Catlett.

Bus drivers play an essential role in the district’s success. Bus drivers are typically the first and the last JMCSS employee a student will engage during the school day. Bus attendants assist drivers in the transportation of students with special needs as well as supervise students as they board and leave the bus.

“A safe pick up and drop-off; that’s how we want to begin and end the school day. That starts with hiring drivers and bus attendants who care about kids and take pride in our community,” Catlett said.

Employees in the JMCSS Transportation Department are valued by district leadership. Drivers and attendants were included in both rounds of bonuses offered during the 2020-2021 school year.

“We value professionalism and diligence. Our employees will know they are appreciated,” Catlett said.

A high school diploma or GED is required for employment. Visit jmcss.org to apply now https://bit.ly/3vREX5v
