City of Jackson Hires Community Development Director

Justin Searcy is joining the City Of Jackson’s Mayor Scott Conger’s office as a community development director and will be responsible for grant analysis and management along with seeking new opportunities for community advancement, according to a Thursday afternoon news release from the Mayor’s Office.

“Justin’s skill set will help us alleviate budget gaps by pursuing various resources that are available through federal agencies, state governments and private foundations,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “This is an invaluable skill that will help us find creative solutions for funding.”

Searcy previously served as the grants coordinator for the City of Memphis and integrated community services manager for the Indiana State Department of Health.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University and master’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

“I’m grateful to be back home in the community I grew up in,” said Searcy. “I intend to be an advocate for the residents of Jackson by making tangible, positive impacts that will improve the quality of life for current and future generations.”

Searcy has been involved with Toastmasters International, American Public Health Association, Tennessee State University Alumni Association and University of Tennessee Alumni Relations. He has also served as a youth mentor since 2013.
