Jackson City Councilman Johnny Dodd, in partnership with Jackson Transit Authority, announces free rides to Jackson citizens to early voting site during early voting period, according to a Monday morning news release. Early voting in Jackson begins Wednesday, October 14 and continues through Thursday, October 29.
“Voting is a right and a responsibility, states Dodd. It is important to me that all citizens in Jackson have an opportunity to exercise that right. A lack of transportation should not stand in the way of people exercising that right. That’s why we are grateful to Jackson Transit Authority, General Manager Travis Franklin and their board of directors for being great partners in our community by providing this service.”
Citizens in need of a ride will simply need to call JTA at 423-0200 to schedule a ride at least 24 hours in advance. Early voting hours are 9:00 am-4:00 pm Monday thru Friday, and 9:00 am -12:00 pm on Saturday. Hours on October 28 and 29 are extended to 6:00 pm.
