There are over 1,856 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 177,087 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,856 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 24 additional deaths to 2,151 .
There have been 160,202 recoveries or inactive cases. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 791 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized.
A total of 2,537,723 tests have been taken, which is 27,632 more since Tuesday’s report.
