Trump Signs Executive Order He Says Will Uphold Free Speech and Rights of American People

President Donald J. Trump announced from the Oval Office Thursday afternoon that he has signed an executive order he says will uphold free speech and the rights of Americans.

Trump signed an executive order regarding new regulations for social media companies. Trump’s order comes just days after after Twitter fact checked some of the his tweets about mail-in voting.

Trump also said Attorney General Barr will work with states to enforce their laws against deceptive business practices.

“The states have broad and powerful authority to regulate in this arena,” Trump said. “The states have broad and powerful to regulate in this arena. It’s tantamount to monopoly. IT’s tantamount to  taking over the airwaves. Can’t let it happen. Otherwise we won’t have  a democracy or anything to do with a republic.”
