The Madison County Fire Department announced Thursday afternoon the cancellation of the 7th Annual Firefighter’s Freedom Festival held on July 4 in a news release.

“It was a difficult decision to come to, but our annual Firefighter’s Freedom Fest will be postponed until 2021,” said Madison County Fire Chief, Eric Turner in the release.

“The Firefighter’s Freedom Festival is a free annual event that is put on through business sponsorships only.  With that being said, we felt like it was not appropriate to ask businesses not to donate at this time.”

Last year’s festival held on July 4th attracted 15,000 people with attendance continuing to grow every year.  Plans are being put in place to hold the festival in 2021.
