There are 248 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are a total of 13,938. The death toll has risen to 239.
There have been 6,564 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 1,221 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 227.101 tests have been taken.
