U.S. Has Surpassed 100,000 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases and Has More Confirmed Cases Than Any Other Country

The U.S. surpassed 100,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases Friday and has more confirmed cases than any other country in the world, according to data from the Center of System Science and Engineering from John Hopkins University. The U.S. surpassed China and Italy for the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the world Thursday,

As of 5 p.m. Central time, the U.S. had 100,717 confirmed cases, 18,313 more confirmed cases than the 82,404 confirmed cases reported Thursday night.

China reported 81,782 confirmed cases Thursday, rising by 115 Friday to 81,897, Italy had 80,589 confirmed cases Thursday, rising by 5,909.

Italy still has the most deaths reported in the world with 9,134. China has reported 3,296 deaths, while the U.S. has reported 1,544.
