The National Weather Service in Memphis said a Freeze Warning will go into effect from 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2023 until 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 expected. This effect includes portions of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, Southeast Missouri and West Tennessee.
Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
NWS said Wednesday will be the coldest morning all week with temperatures dipping into the 20s, effectively ending the growing season. It’ll also be pretty windy, causing a brisk wind chill. Bundle up and bring those pets and plants inside!
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
