The Jackson Arts Council has opened applications for subgranting funds from the American Rescue Plan awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
The Jackson Arts Council has been awarded $150,000 of American Rescue Plan funding from the NEA to help the arts and cultural sector recover from the pandemic. The Council is serving as a pass-through entity to distribute funds in eight counties of Tennessee. This funding is intended to save jobs, to fund operations and facilities, and to increase marketing and promotional efforts to encourage attendance and participation. In total, the NEA has awarded grants totaling $20,200,000 to 66 local arts agencies nationwide for subgranting.
Eligible applicants include 501c3 nonprofit organizations in good standing with the IRS, units of state or local government, institutions of higher education, federally recognized Indian tribal governments, and individual artists. All applicants must provide a history of arts-based programming and/or projects and an intention to use funds for recovery of the arts sector to receive funding. Only organizations, institutions, and artists in Chester, Decatur, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and McNairy Counties are eligible to apply.
