As part of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s ongoing investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for former Henry County Correctional Officer Richard Wade Sanders on a count of sexual battery by an authority figure involving a female inmate. TBI special agents arrested Sanders Wednesday and booked him into the Henry County Jail on $10,000 bond.
As originally reported, an investigation by TBI special agents resulted in the arrest of Sanders, 21, earlier this month on charges of having inappropriate contact with an inmate.
At the request of 24th District Attorney General Matt Stowe, TBI agents began investigating a report Sept. 9 of Sanders having inappropriate contact with a female inmate inside her cell over the last week.
As a result of the investigation, Sanders was arrested the afternoon of Sept. 9 and booked into the Henry County Jail on three counts of sexual contact with an inmate. His bond is set at $25,000. Sanders is no longer employed by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office following an internal investigation.
