Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser implemented sixty days of Blue Impact, beginning June 21.  Blue Impact is a successful community-policing strategy utilized by the Jackson Police Department to address community issues such as gang and gun crimes.

One of the three main tenants that makes Blue Impact successful is the community policing strategy.  Through Blue Impact, Jackson Police in co-active partnerships with the community has been successful in reducing crime problems and improving the quality of life for citizens of this community.

Wiser and the officers of the Jackson Police Department continued the effort of building community relationships by holding their first Roll Call outside of the Jackson Police Department at St. James Missionary Baptist Church Tuesday, June 29.  According to Wiser, “holding Roll Call outside of the department was our effort in furthering our commitment to our Department’s Mission Statement and our Blue Impact efforts.”  Wiser further stated, “Building stronger community partnerships helps in building a stronger and safer Jackson.”

This is the first of many Community Roll Calls.  The Jackson Police Department intends to hold Community Roll Calls throughout the city by connecting with businesses, churches, neighborhood associations, and community members.

The Jackson Police Department would like to thank Pastor Ernest Polk and the St. James Church family for opening their doors and allowing use of the facility to host Roll Call.
