COVID-19 in Madison County, 1 Year Later: Cumulative Total of 11,039 Confirmed Cases and 219 deaths

Today marks one year to the date since the first case of a Madison County resident having COVID-19 was reported by the Jackson-Madison County Health Department March 23, 2020.

Since that time, 11,039 residents have been confirmed to have had the novel coronavirus and 219 Madison County residents have died because of the novel coronavirus. You can see the daily totals and deaths in the following Excel worksheet: Madison-County-COVID-19-DATA-1

THE MILESTONES of the YEAR

The following  information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases, is compiled from data from the Madison County Regional Health Department:

  • First death reported April 16, 2020, when the county had 90 confirmed cases
  • 100 cases reported April 19, 2020
  • County surpassed 200 cases when cumulative total of 201 cases are reported June 20, 2020
  • County surpassed 300 cases when cumulative total of 313 cases reported July 3, 2020
  • County surpassed 400 cases when cumulative total of 433 cases reported July 10, 2020
  • County surpassed 500 cases when cumulative total of 504 cases reported July 14, 2020
  • County surpassed 600 cases when cumulative total of 635 cases reported July 18, 2020
  • County surpassed 700 cases when cumulative total of 702 cases reported July 21, 2020
  • County surpassed 800 cases when cumulative total of 811 cases reported July 25, 2020
  • County surpassed 900 cases  when cumulative total of 902 cases reported July 28, 2020
  • County surpassed 1,000 cases when cumulative total of 1,068 cases reported August 1, 2020
  • County surpassed 5,000 cases when cumulative total of 5,032 cases reported November 18, 2020
  • County surpassed 10,000 cases when cumulative total of 10,006 cases reported January 19, 2021
  • First time over 100 cases of COVID-19 were reported in one day occurred November 13, 2020
  • The highest confirmed number of cases in one day was 176 reported December 16, 2020

 

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirmed the latest additional COVID-19 related deaths Tuesday morning, which brought the total to 219 in Madison County. The newest deaths include:

  • 95-year-old female (died 11/23/2020)
  • 67-year-old female (died 12/7/2020)
  • 85-year-old male (died 1/1/2021)
  • 83-year-old male (died 1/6/2021)
  • 87-year-old male (died 1/25/2021)
  • 77-year-old female (died 1/27/2021)

The health department received positive test results for three more cases of COVID-19. There is now a cumulative total of 11,039 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases range from ages 22 to 45.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Five Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. One of those patients is on a ventilator.

  • 0-10: 1 death
  • 11-20: no deaths reported
  • 21-30: 2 deaths
  • 31-40: 2 deaths
  • 41-50: 9 deaths
  • 51-60: 22 deaths
  • 61-70: 46 deaths
  • 71-80: 51 deaths
  • 81-90: 65 deaths
  • 91-100: 19 deaths
  • 101-110: 1 death
