A COVID-19 Community Memorial scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 4, in the West Lawn of the Madison County Courthouse, has been postponed, according to a Thursday morning news release from the City of Jackson’s Mayor’s Office. The event will be held on a later date due to the possibility of rain during the scheduled time.

Members of the Jackson Madison County COVID-19 Task Force planned to mourn and honor those who have lost their lives through a flag display. Each flag will represent a Madison County resident who is no longer with us due to COVID-19. As of Sunday morning, 165 COVID-19 deaths had been reported in Madison County.

Members of the COVID-19 task force would have also had an opportunity to speak.

Those members include:

Scott Conger– Mayor, City of Jackson
Jimmy Harris– Mayor, Madison County
Kim Tedford– Director, Jackson Madison County Regional Health Department
James Ross– CEO, West Tennessee Healthcare
Kyle Spurgeon– President, Jackson Chamber
