
There are over 4,270 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee as the total number of COVID-19 deaths surpasses 4,000, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 325,201 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 4,472 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 53 additional deaths to 4,048.
There have been 279,931 recoveries or inactive cases. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 1,982 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, which is an increase of 60 hospitalizations.
A total of 4,177,684 tests have been taken, which is 23,974 more since Tuesday’s report.
