The West Tennessee Farmers’ Market is once again partnering with Jackson Housing Authority to make fresh produce available to seniors through a mobile farmers’ market, according to a news release from the City of Jackson.

The mobile market, which is the first of its kind in Jackson, Tenn., consists of two produce vendors who set up at the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market. The vendors will set up at Centennial Pass Apartments, Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Vendors include Mr. Bennett who will have mustard and turnip greens, apples, etc. and Mr. Hicks who will have sweet potatoes, green tomatoes, plums, etc. (vendor products may vary).

The West Tennessee Farmers’ Market sees on average 70,000 people during peak season according to West Tennessee Farmers’ Market Manager Bruce Bond.

Mark Reid, Director of Jackson Housing Authority, said in September that many of the JHA residents in the area are excited about the Mobile Farmers’ Market coming. Reid also said he hoped that more vendors will be added in the future.

The Mobile Farmers’ Market will currently be cash only with hopes to accept food stamps/EBT in the future. The mobile market will follow social distancing guidelines.
