There are over 1,525 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 196,139 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,528 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 34 additional deaths to 2,356.
There have been 179,332 recoveries or inactive cases. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 806 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized.
A total of 2,876,722 tests have been taken, which is 23,655 more since Tuesday’s report.
