The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for 35 more cases of COVID-19, according to a Wednesday morning news release from the department and Director Kim Tedford. There are not 3,112 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.
The newest confirmed cases include 13 males, 22 females, and range from ages 6 to 75.
Tedford said there are currently 283 active cases and 32 unknown.
The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.
Seven Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. None of those patients are on a ventilator.
Tedford said the the positivity rate has continued to decrease and that the state is looking better. Tennessee still remains in the red zone according to the White House Task Force report, While the City of Jackson is in the orange zone and Madison County is in the yellow zone.
Amy Garner, West Tennessee Healthcare Chief Compliance & Communications Officer, said there are 67 COVID-19 patients at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, with 20 in ICU and 15 on ventilators.
