There are over 1,665 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Friday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Friday, there are 140,844 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,669 additional cases since Thursday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 61 additional deaths to 1,549.
There have been 102,686 recoveries, 1,719 more since Thursday. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 6,255 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 1,978,409 tests have been taken, which is 29,005 more since Thursday’s report.
