Health Department Confirms 25th COVID-19 Death, 1,528 Cases in Madison County, 73 New Cases

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 76-year-old male died Aug. 10 due to complications from COVID-19, according to a Tuesday morning news release from the department. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 25 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 73 more cases of COVID-19. There are now 1,528 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison county.

The newest confirmed cases include 31 inmates total from the Madison County Penal Farm and Madison County Jail Annex. The newest confirmed cases include 44 males, 29 females, and range from ages 4 to 93.

Epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Fifteen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized.

The release said 998 Madison County residents have recovered from COVID-19 and 64 people say they are feeling better.

The department also released the following demographic information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases.
