The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for one more confirmed case of COVID-19 Thursday morning, according to Kim Tedford, executive director of the Jackson Madison County Regional Health Department. Madison County now has a total of 126 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

This new case was tested at the Jackson Fairgrounds on Sunday, April 19.

The most recent case includes a 56-year-old female, who is not hospitalized.

The department’s staff is reaching out to people who had contact with the patient.

Tedford said the department has reported 21 positives for Madison County and three from other counties from the weekend drive-through assessment. There were three people who were able to trace their exposure and 17 who are not able to trace back their exposure to the novel coronavirus, which is called community spread.

Tedford said 11 people showed no signs or symptoms when they were tested, which concerns her. She said she strongly encourages everyone who goes out into the public to cover their face when in public and continue practicing social distancing.
