Nearly 100 Tennesseans who tested positive for the novel coronavirus have died and over 1,100 have recovered, according to Friday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.

As of 2 p.m. Friday, there have been 98 COVID-19 deaths in Tennessee and 1,145 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.

The data showed that 3,718 Tennesseans had not recovered yet.

The department also said 4,862 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported and a total of 536 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.

The data also showed 2,878 Tennesseans have never been hospitalized for COVID-19 and 1,448 cases are pending.

A total of 57,937 tests have come back negative from private and state labs and a total of 62,799 tests have been taken.

The data showed that 204 COVID-19 positive Hispanic Tennesseans make up 4 percent of the state’s COVID-19 cases.

The data also showed that 1,852 cases, which makes up 38 percent of the state’s cases, are pending.

The age range with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 is the 11-20 age range with 1,024 confirmed cases, with the 21-30 age range the second-highest age range with 899 confirmed cases. The only age group with no reported deaths is the 11-20 age group, followed by age groups 0-10, 21-30 and 31-40 with one death reported in each age group.

The data showed that female Tennesseans make up 52 percent of confirmed cases with 2,514 cases, while male Tennesseans make up 47 percent of confirmed cases with 2,267 cases. There are 81 cases (2 percent) of cases pending.
