We are continuing to monitor this situation very closely. Remember, prevention is key to minimizing the effects of the virus, particularly on those most vulnerable in our community. Let this be a time for us to show greater concern, care, and patience with our neighbors. The city is working with hospital officials to establish drive thru testing for first responders, medical personnel and the 20% of the population that is most at risk. More details on this will be announced
soon.

The school system has released information on providing breakfast and lunch for JMCSS students in need. Details and distribution locations can be found on the JMCSS Facebook page and on their website www.jmcss.org/coronavirus.

The Jackson Chamber is calling 20-30 businesses a day to get information on how we can support them during this time. The Visit Jackson TN Facebook page is posting updates from restaurants that are offering carry out and delivery dining options. Although we need to practice social distancing- many of these restaurants have taken extraordinary measures to keep you safe and need your support now more than ever. The Jackson Police Department and Jackson Fire Department are reviewing policies and acquiring more resources to keep residents safe during this time. Each city department is creating a continuity of operations plan (COOP) to determine the best way to serve our residents while flattening the curve. The downtown farmer’s market is temporarily closed. The hospital is working to allocate personnel protective equipment to staff personnel who will be directly impacted by the virus. Several grocers have announced plans to offer specific times to seniors to shop without the general public. Dollar General and Target have both released plans. We will be compiling a list as we find out more.
