This week, we’ll visit with Woodrow Lowe, Jr. - the head coach of the North Side High School football team.
Well, it’s the season for - Open Enrollment. That’s right - it’s time for 8th graders to select their high schools; and it’s also time for students in other grades to consider magnet programs and speciality schools throughout the district. To assist us in this conversation, we’ve invited Rhonda Heard Bigham, District Advisor for Counseling and Open Enrollment, Katrina Taylor, Innovation Impact Coordinator, and Heather Denham, Professional School Counselor at Rose Hill Pre-K Schools.
This week, we’ll provide an update on the Malesus STEM Innovation Center - which is scheduled to open for middle school students in August. Our Chief Innovation Officer Dr. Teresa McSweeney will join us to provide renovation details, information about the STEM classes that will be offered, and exciting info about the Toyota Engineering, Manufacturing & Mechatronics Institute.
Students in the Jackson-Madison County School System are doing more—excelling in academics, athletics, and the arts. Today, we’re spotlighting a South Side High School graduate who is using his platform in sports to inspire the next generation of athletes across the district. Brandon Maclin, a 2021 South Side graduate, is now a senior guard for DePaul University’s basketball team. After transferring to the BIG EAST program in April, Brandon continues to build on his success, proving that hard work and determination can take you to new heights. His journey is one that resonates with students from every school in JMCSS.
