As summer kicks off, ensuring children have access to nutritious meals is a top priority for communities across West Tennessee. In collaboration with West TN Healthcare, the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is proud to announce the launch of the Summer Food Service Program, which will run June 1 – August 3, 2024.
The Summer Food Service Program provides weekly meal packs to children, ensuring that they have access to healthy meals and snacks during the summer months when school meal programs are unavailable. These meal packs are carefully designed to offer a balance of essential nutrients and are easily accessible to children. All children 18 and under are eligible to participate, and families can pick up meal packs on behalf of their children, free of charge!
“We understand the importance of ensuring that children have access to nutritious meals, particularly during the summer when school meal programs are unavailable,” said Brian McLaughlin, Executive Vice President & COO of the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South. “Through the Summer Food Service Program, we aim to fill this gap and provide families in West Tennessee with the support that they need to thrive.”
Together with their community partners, the YMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South is investing in children, continuing to create spaces where they can learn, grow, and thrive.
In addition to providing meals, the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is inviting members of the community to participate in the program as volunteers. Prospective volunteers can complete the volunteer application form at ymcamemphis.org/volunteer.
