The National Weather Service in Memphis reaffirmed Tuesday morning that the Ice Storm Warning it issued Monday will remain in effect until 12 p.m. Wednesday.

Those counties included in the warning are Weakley, Henry, Dyer, Gibson, Carroll, Benton, Lauderdale, Tipton, Haywood, Crockett, Madison, Chester, Henderson, Decatur, Shelby, Fayette, and Hardeman.

NWS said there will be significant icing, with additional ice accumulations of one-tenth to three-tenths of an inch. Sleet accumulations up to one-half inch are possible as well.

Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.

Travel is strongly discouraged. If you must travel, NWS suggests you keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Prepare for possible power outages.
