A strong arctic cold front will push a frigid airmass into the Mid-South tonight with temperatures dropping into the single digits above zero to near zero late tonight. Wind chill warnings remain in effect across the Mid-South tonight as wind chill values will drop to between 10 to 20 degrees below zero.
A Winter Weather advisory is in effect across the entire Mid-South this afternoon into tonight with 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation possible north of I-40 and lesser accumulations south. A rare flash freeze is possible tonight across the area and travel is strongly discouraged.
Days two through seven…Friday through Wednesday
Wind chill warnings and advisories will continue into Friday morning. A Wind Chill advisory may be needed for parts of the Mid-South for Friday afternoon into Friday night. Sub-freezing temperatures are expected to persist into Christmas day.
