The National Weather service in Memphis said Friday morning that there will be a potential for a few strong to severe storms Saturday afternoon and evening across the Mid-South.

“This threat is greatest north of Interstate 40,” NWS said in a Friday Facebook post. “The primary hazards will be damaging winds and large hail.”

The greatest risk for severe weather will be across northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel and northwest Tennessee. Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes will be the main threats from any severe storms that develop.

Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible.
