
The National Weather Service in Memphis issued a Winter Storm Warning Thursday morning for several West Tennessee counties and issued a Winter Storm Advisory for others.
The counties in the warning included Dyer, Lake, Lauderdale, Obion, Weakley, Tipton, Gibson, Haywood, Crockett and Madison and is expected to stay in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Benton, Carroll, Fayette, Henry and Shelby counties until 6 p.m.
NWS said total ice accumulations could be around one quarter of an inch. Sidewalks, roads and bridges could become very slippery and morning and evening commutes could be impacted.
If you must travel, keep extra blankets, food, water and a flashlight in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Prepare for possible power outages.
