The National Weather Service in Memphis said Monday morning that a Flood Watch would be in effect from late Monday night through Wednesday morning for several West Tennessee counties.

Those counties include the following: Carroll, Benton, Tipton, Haywood, Madison, Chester, Henderson, Decatur, Shelby, Fayette, Hardeman, McNairy, and Hardin.

NWS said flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

NWS said residents in these areas should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
