The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued Ice Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories across West Tennessee and the Mid-South.
NWS said the Ice Storm Warnings will remain in effect from 6 a.m. Thursday through 12 a.m. Friday for the following counties: Weakley, Henry, Gibson, Carroll, Haywood, Crockett, Madison and Fayette. The warnings includes the cities of Martin, Dresden, Paris, Humboldt, Milan, Huntingdon, Brownsville, Alamo, Jackson, Somerville and Oakland.
Significant icing expected is with total sleet and snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of one tenth to one half of an inch.
NWS said power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.
Travel could be nearly impossible and hazardous conditions could impact morning or evening commutes.
NWS said travel is strongly discouraged. But, if you must travel, keep extra blankets, food, water and a flashlight in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Prepare for possible power outages.

NWS said Winter Weather Advisories will remain in effect from 6 a.m. Thursday to 12 a.m. Friday for the following counties: Benton, Chester, Decatur, Hardeman and Henderson. The advisories includes the cities of Camden, Henderson, Lexington, Parsons, Decaturville and Bolivar.
NWS said mixed precipitation is expected and the total sleet and snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch are expected.
Plan on slippery road conditions, NWS said. The hazardous conditions could impact morning or evening commutes.
NWS advises drivers to slow down and use caution while traveling.
