Jackson, Tennessee — (Dec. 20, 2021) — Hundreds of players and families from across West Tennessee are gearing up for Area Relief Ministries’ Ninth Annual Hub Classic Basketball tournament Dec. 28 through Dec. 30, 2021, at Oman Arena. The three-day event is the largest high school tournament in the Mid-South with public and private schools from Chester, Crockett, Haywood, Madison and Shelby counties participating. Tickets are $7 and individuals can purchase a 3-day Game Pass for $18. Passes will only be sold on or before Dec. 28.
The Hub Classic has become Jackson’s premier tournament since the loss of the NAIA tournament in 2011. “ARM is thrilled to be a part of keeping this fun-filled event in Jackson and we encourage fans of the sport to support as many games as possible,” ARM Executive Director Mike Roby said. “This event helps to increase the public’s awareness of Area Relief’s work, support our youth and expand our outreach. Hub Classic really brings everyone together for a worthy cause and provides families of student-athletes a chance to enjoy a fun activity during winter break.”
In its 44th year of service, ARM serves the community through various programs including The Open Arm, Fresh Start, Turning Point and Room in the Inn, which partners with local congregations to provide homeless men with a safe place to sleep and a meal during the winter months. Overall ARM has provided more than 4,000 beds and 10,000 meals. The Fresh Start program provides transitional employment and job history to homeless men, Turning Point provides housing for homeless men with disabilities and The Open Arm provides a day center and resources to help the homeless receive medical, housing assistance and other necessities.
