The National Weather Service in Memphis said portions of the Mid-South will experience freezing temperatures this weekend.

Day one: Thursday morning and Thursday night:

NWS said freezing temperatures, along with widespread frost, are likely across West Tennessee, the East Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel and North Mississippi late Thursday night. Parts of East Mississippi near Tupelo may also see areas of frost late tonight into early Friday morning.

Days two through seven…Friday, Nov. 5 through Wednesday, Nov. 10:

NWS said a Freeze warning will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.

A few days of freezing temperatures will be possible across our forecast area Friday morning through the weekend, NWS said. Widespread areas of early morning frost will also be possible throughout much

of the Mid-South Friday through Sunday.

Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
