The City of Jackson will partner with the Jackson Arts Council to prominently display children’s art on the 3rd floor of City Hall children’s art gallery.
“Mayor’s Collection of Masterpieces” was launched earlier this year and displayed art of Kindergarten to 8th grade students. The second gallery will feature art of 9th to 12th grade students, December 1, 2021 through January 28, 2022.
The Jackson Arts Council will work with schools in Jackson-Madison County regarding art specifications and acquire submissions. “History of Our Holidays” will be the theme for the upcoming Mayor’s Collection of Masterpieces.
“I’m looking forward to adding pieces that reflect the positive aspects of Jackson and our history as seen through the eyes of our youth,” said Mayor Conger.
Deadline to submit art is Friday, November 19. Art can be delivered to City Hall lobby during business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Top three winners and the Mayor’s Choice will be recognized during the Meet the Artists Preview Reception on November 30, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the 3rd floor of City Hall and during the December 7 City Council meeting.
