Five Toyota vehicles will soon hit the road across West Tennessee, helping connect Jackson-Madison County School District’s youth to education and workforce
opportunities.
The five Toyota Sienna minivans will provide free transportation to students enrolled in the district’s Learning Options and Opportunities Program (LOOP). Near term, approximately 100 students are expected to utilize the transportation to access the District’s Workforce Development Center and attend work-based learning programs at manufacturing sites.
“Through these Toyota vehicles, we can help students overcome transportation barriers, connecting them with life changing opportunity, while benefiting local workforce needs,” said Dr. Marlon King, superintendent, Jackson-Madison County School System.
The vehicles will assist five local high schools participating in LOOP to access jobs sites like Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Tennessee.
“Through these vehicles, we can help create limitless possibilities, supporting local job training, improving career readiness, and supporting workforce development for the region,” said Jason Bates, senior manager, human resources, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Tennessee.
Over the coming months, Toyota’s plant in Jackson expects to hire five students participating the LOOP program, with more as the program grows.
“Toyota has been and continues to be one of the most engaged community partners in Jackson and Madison County. Providing transportation solutions to LOOP students is just another tangible example of that commitment,” said Kyle Spurgeon, president and CEO, Jackson Chamber.
