Jackson Police are investigating Wednesday afternoon shooting in which one person was shot and sustained what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury, according to a Thursday morning news release. The shooting occurred in the area of Kemmons Drive.
Officers of the Jackson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Kemmons Drive around 4:55 p.m., Wednesday July 28, for a report of a gunshot victim. Responding officers located a black male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot. The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital for treatment.
Based on the preliminary investigation, Jackson Police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence but a targeted act of violence directed toward the victim.
