The CDC released new guidelines Tuesday afternoon recommending that everyone in schools K-12, regardless of vaccination, wear mask while inside schools.
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky also announced that the CDC now recommends that individuals who live in areas with “high” or “substantial” Delta variant of Covid-19 transmission should begin wearing masks indoors again. Nearly 50 percent of the nations’ counties have high or substantial transmission of Covid-19, according to CDC data.
The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department received positive test results for 78 more cases of COVID-19 since Friday, July 23, 2021, according to a Tuesday morning news release. There are now 11,800 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.
The department reported Friday, July 23 that it had received positive test results for 40 more cases of COVID-19 since Thursday, July 21. Wednesday, July 21, the department reported a total of 77 positive cases reported in a week’s time.
According to CDC data below, the only county in West Tennessee that doesn’t have high or substantial Covid-19 transmission is Obion County, which has a moderate transmission rate.
