JPD Investigators Make Arrest in March Homicide at Mo Zeppy’s Hookah Cafe

Investigators with the Jackson Police Department have made an arrest in a March homicide that happened at Mo Zeppy’s Hookah Cafe, according to a news release from the department.

Officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting at Mo Zeppy’s Hookah Cafe, located at 80 Federal Drive,  Saturday, March 27, 2021, around 1 a.m.

Demethrius Williams, a 22 year-old man, was shot and then transported to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The release said the investigators were able to develop an 18 year-old man as a suspect, who was 17 years old at the time of the March homicide.

The suspect was interviewed by investigators and during an interview he admitted to the shooting.

The suspect was scheduled to be formally be arraigned on Monday, June 7,  in Juvenile Court on a first degree murder charge.
