The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department has adopted new COVID-19 quarantine guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) effective Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2021.

People fully vaccinated for COVID-19 no longer have to quarantine if they’re exposed to a confirmed case and do not have symptoms. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 two weeks after they receive their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two weeks after receiving a single-dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

If a fully vaccinated individual develops COVID-19 symptoms, the person should isolate and see their provider for testing. Let your provider know your COVID-19 vaccine status.

CDC says fully vaccinated people should continue to:

  • Wear a well-fitted mask and socially distance in public
  • Wear masks, practice physical distancing, and follow other prevention measures when visiting with unvaccinated people
  • Avoid medium and large-sized in-person gatherings
  • Get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms

Masks or face coverings are still required in Madison County businesses, organizations, and venues open to the public through Mar. 31, 2021.

Call the Jackson-Madison County COVID-19 Public Information Line at 731-240-1771 if you have questions.
