Investigators and officers of the Jackson Police Department continue to investigate an early Wednesday morning shooting that occurred on Friars Point Road ( at Cherry Grove Apartments), according to a Thursday afternoon news release. The release said 19-year-old Jirah Gregory was killed and an 18-year-old year old was seriously injured.
Around 2:45 a.m., February 24, JPD officers were dispatched to the area of Friars Point Rd. for a shooting call. Responding officers located two shooting victims and both victims were transported by Emergency Medical Services to local hospitals were one of the gunshot victims was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation suggests this was not a random act of violence but a targeted act of violence, the release said.
