The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Winter Storm Watch which will be in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.
This watch includes portions of West Tennessee, East Arkansas and North Mississippi. This includes the following cities: Southaven, Olive Branch, Tunica, Huntingdon, Camden, Covington, Brownsville, Jackson, Lexington, Bartlett, Germantown, Collierville, Memphis, Millington, Somerville, and Oakland.
The potential for significant amounts of icing is possible Wednesday night into Thursday, NWS said.
Total ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch are possible. NWS warns that power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
