City of Jackson Releases Update on Street Management in Anticipation of Winter Storm

The City of Jackson has implemented plans to prepare to clear streets in the event of severe winter weather, according to a Wednesday afternoon news release from the City of Jackson Mayor’s Office.

The City will remove snow or ice from arterial and primary roadways as rapidly as possible while keeping roads open for traffic flow. Once a snow or ice event occurs, it becomes a 24/7 operation until all arterial streets, primary routes and emergency response departments have been cleared.”

“If snow or ice impacts our streets, our top priority will be to clear areas needed for emergencies,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “This includes our hospital, fire operations, and police department. We will work the routes as safely and efficiently as possible. Our staff will work diligently until all of the streets are cleared.”

The City of Jackson operates five snowplows during inclement snow or ice weather conditions. The City utilizes rock salt for the purposes of the streets. The main routes by zone are:
