
There are over 3,440 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 269,802 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 3,445 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 24 additional deaths to 3,478.
There have been 240,587 recoveries or inactive cases. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 1,537 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized, which is an increase of 57 hospitalizations.
A total of 3,744,640 tests have been taken, which is 25,442 more since Tuesday’s report.
