
There are over 1,705 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Wednesday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, there are 220,538 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,709 additional cases since Tuesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 31 additional deaths to 2,828.
There have been 198,465 recoveries or inactive cases. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 1,101 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized.
A total of 3,233,299 tests have been taken, which is 17,898 more since Tuesday’s report.
