
The Griot Collective of West Tennessee presents: Black Southern Writing: Its Impact and Influence Upon American Letters, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sept. 26. The event will be broadcast on Zoom and Facebook Live.
The event is sponsored by Humanities Tennessee, the Griot Collective of West Tennessee and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The event will be moderated by James E. Cherry, author of the poetry collection Loose Change and and the novel Edge of the Win.
The event will feature Howard Rambsy II, a professor of literature at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he teaches course on American and African American literature. He is also the author of the Black Arts Enterprise.
Also featured during this event will be Anthony Reed, an associate professor of English at Vanderbilt University. His first book, Freedom Time: The Poetics and Politics of Black Experimental Writing, won the 2014 William Sanders Scarborough Prize from the Modern Language Association.
