
There are over 1,050 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Friday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, there are 160,597 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,051 additional cases since Thursday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 22 additional deaths to 1,837.
There have been 143,156 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 865 people with COVID-19 are currently hospitalized.
A total of 2,279,035 tests have been taken, which is 18,104 more since Thursday’s report.
