There are over 1,710 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Tennessee, according to Thursday’s data from the Tennessee Department of Health.
As of 3 p.m. Thursday, there are 159,546 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is 1,715 additional cases since Wednesday afternoon’s report. The death toll has risen by 18 additional deaths to 1,815.
There have been 141,568 recoveries. The department said it defines recoveries as people who have been confirmed to be asymptomatic by their local or regional health department and have completed their required isolation period or are at least 21 days beyond the first test confirming their illness.
A total of 7,061 people with COVID-19 have been hospitalized, but the department noted that while the number indicates the number of patients that were ever hospitalized during their illness, it does not indicate the number of patients currently hospitalized.
A total of 2,260,931 tests have been taken, which is 26,633 more since Thursday’s report.
