Health Department Confirms Two Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 2,061 Cases in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 71-year-old male died Aug. 23 and an 85-year-old male died Aug. 24 due to complications from COVID-19, according to a Tuesday morning news release from the department. There are now 37 COVID-19 related deaths in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 16 more cases of COVID-19. We now have 2,061 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include 9 males, 7 females, and range from ages 1 to 82.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Twenty Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Two of those patients are on a ventilator.

The department has released the following demographic information about Madison County’s confirmed COVID-19 cases.
