Health Department Confirms Two Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 407 Active Cases, Cumulative Total of 1,960 Cases in Madison County

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department confirms a 90-year-old female died Aug. 20 and an 80-year-old female died Aug. 10 due to complications from COVID-19, according to Director Kim Tedford. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 33 in Madison County.

The health department received positive test results for 35 more cases of COVID-19. There are now 1,960 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.

The newest confirmed cases include 16 males, 19 females, and range from ages 8 to 74.

The department’s epidemiology staff are reaching out to these individuals and people who had close contact with these cases.

Seventeen Madison County residents are currently hospitalized. Two of those patients are on a ventilator, Tedford said.
